[Elecraft] K1 Rendering

In response to a number of questions on the K1 rendering....
My web page is done almost entirely in Notepad, I used no web generation
software. Various graphics programs were used to create some of the images.
The site map was actually done in PowerPoint. I then captured the screen,
cropped it, converted it to a GIF, adjusted the colors, and then
painstakingly, manually, figured out the imagemap coordinates.
The K1 rendering was done in Pov-Ray. For those of you who aren't familiar
with Pov-Ray, it is a program which accepts geometric descriptions of the
parts of the image, then calculates the reflections, highlights, shadows,
etc. For example, in the source for the K1, I have a line
#declare Button = box { <0.6,0.7,-3>,<11.7,5.7,5>
texture { Black_Plastic } }
which describes the buttons (except for the RIT button). I then place each
of the 5 buttons. At some point, I want to smooth the edges of the buttons
a bit. I'll just change the definition of the buttons and all 5 buttons
will change.
Pov-Ray is a free program, I happen to be a couple of versions back. When I
get the remaining panel graphics done I'll post the Pov-Ray source in case
anyone wants to include it in their image. I also have a pretty reasonable
Bencher paddle source that I plan to combine with the K1.
I have a few other images on the Ray Tracing page of my web site.
As far as using the image on tee shirts, desktops, whatever, feel free. I
have sold one rendering, and now that I can claim to be a published artist,
I have no need for any more check marks on my resume <g> so I only do it for
fun!
