[Elecraft] K1 Front Panel problem

Hello everyone!  I'm a new K1 owner, I didn't build it as I have a
friend who really enjoys building and he offered to build it for
me...

Anyway, I'm having an intermittent problem(I know, the worst kind)
with my front panel board.

Sometimes when I power up the rig, only the attenuator light comes on
and nothing else happens.  If I power up while holding the Band or
Menu buttons and then release them, the software rev is displayed and
the rig powers up as normal.  It does seem to be making full contact
with the RF board as well.

I have another front panel board(don't ask) and I don't have the
problem with that board in the same rig using the same cpu so I'm
pretty sure the problem lies in the front panel board.

I cannot consistently reproduce the problem and that's probably the
most frustrating part!

Hopefully someone can give me some ideas...
