[Elecraft] help please

With Gary's help, I was able to determine a BFO crystal had a solder short
and now all is well there and I have the proper Range...so onward...

I am on page 85 of the manual and working my way through the BASIC CAL FIL
Setup...
...at Step 2. Set AF GAIN high enough to hear some background noise...I
take it I'm to plug in a pair of headphones in the front panel in order to
hear the noise...I have plugged in a pair of headpnoes with a stereo
connector but hear nothing...what am i missing please?...
