We're doing a little survey on high-power external amp keying. The
K2/100 provides a well-protected, high-voltage amp keying output, but we
want to make sure that it will work with as many manufacturers' amps as
possible. (There's still time for us to make minor changes to the KPA100
PC board if necessary.)
Some of the manufacturers that we're taking into consideration include:
Heath (SB200 and SB220)
Kenwood (TL922)
Ameritron
Alpha
If you have an external power amp (especially one of the above), and its
schematic, please send me (directly) your input on the following questions:
1. What type of keying input does the amp have (logic, relay coil)?
2. What voltage is present at the keying input jack? Is it DC or AC?
3. How much current is required to activate the keying input?
4. Does the manufacturer recommend any specific keying circuit, T-R
timing, bypassing, current limiting, etc.?
Finally, I'd greatly appreciate receiving an e-mail (.pdf) or fax of any
relevant portion of your amp's schematic, or a schematic showing any
custom keying arrangement that you're presently using. My direct fax
number is 650-591-1453.
We'll include all relevant information in the manual.
Thanks for your time,
Wayne
