[Elecraft] need fiber optic 'wire'...

Wal-Mart sells a small piece of light fibre in the form of an inexpensive
clip on device for a standard flashlight.  These can usually be found near
the fishing equipment on the end of the aisles.  Its very inexpensive, but
I'm not sure if it's enough fibre for what you wish to accomplish (only
about 14" or so).  I forget what it's called, but I saw them this past
weekend.

Thin plexiglas rod from a hobby shop or plastics vendor can also be formed
and used as a light pipe from a remote lamp or led.
