Fluke is definately a quality meter. For work I purchase Fluke meters. Fo=
r my ham shack there are a number of Fluke "look alikes" that are much le=
ss expensive, have all the same features, and are plenty accurate for use=
around the shack.

I have been using Fluke meters for 30 years (anyone remember the 802) and=
I have a model 87, 12B, 8050 and an 88 automotive version I use on my au=
tocross car. I have calibrated thousands of them when I worked in a cal l=
ab. Yes there are cheaper meters and they will work. =20
Where Fluke shines is first time you make a mistake and overload the mete=
r or drop it off of the bench. The cheap meter won't take it the Fluke wi=
ll. The bottom line is you can't go wrong with Fluke and you get what you=
pay for.
BTW my Fluke 8050 is over 20 years old and still works as good as the day=
I got it and I use it almost daily.
