Daniel,
I don't know what the source of your information is, and I am not familiar
with that particular antenna, BUT I can say that the KAT2 will tune most any
hunk of wire. My guess is that statement refers to many of the 'built-in
ATUs' such as the one in my Yaesu FT900 - its capabilities are limited to
tuning an antenna having a SWR of less than 3:1 - the Elecraft tuners have a
much wider range.
At the Charlotte hamfest last weekend, I hung up an antenna made from 2
hanks of 50 foot wire that I carried with me - one was just strung over the
curtain supports at the back of the booth and the other was just laid out on
the floor (mostly coiled up) to act as a counterpoise. My KAT2 was able to
tune that 'antenna' to an SWR of 1.4:1 on 20 and 1.6:1 on 15 meters. It was
probably not very efficient because of where it was hanging, but it does
demonstrate the capability of the tuner.
Bottom line - try it and see what happens - I would bet that it will tune
just fine and if not, some simple solution like changing the feedline length
will make it work for you.
