During my recent trip, I managed to snag my "long/short wire" & pull my K2
off of the night stand in my motel & it fell on the front panel bending
the tuning knob.

I didn't know it was bent until later when I was tuning & the knob was
hard to turn & had a distinct wobble. Today, I began e-mailing Gary
Surrency & he advised me that the tuning encoder is an expensive
replacment part....about $60 plus all of my work. With some guidance from
Gary & my bank account, I "realigned" the shaft with some pressure from a
cresent wrench & all seems well.

To quote Gary......"Be careful of that VFO knob! It's a good idea to give it
some extra protection it if you travel or ship the rig. Put some foam or
something over the main tuning knob to keep pressure off of the knob and
encoder shaft."
