[Elecraft] Help! I killed my K2.

Save yourself some work - check the circuit diagram.  If I remember right 
the orientation does not matter.  The instructions just say do it one way 
as everyone would ask which was right.  But I do believe the entire pack is 
10K.  The orientation does not matter.
