[Elecraft] K1 #690 lives; questions

Today my K1 kit magically made the transition from
several fistfuls of parts to a usable piece of radio
equipment. It has survived the "Alignment and Test,
Part I" of the manual. This one is equipped with the
KFL1-4 4-band module. The alignments so far have
progressed as indicated by the manual.

I'm using a transmitter of known frequency stability
into a dummy load as a signal source. The dummy
load is, in my opinion, a formality; my outdoor antenna
would provide just as good a match and provide the
same amount of QRM as a dummy load. :(

Point is, I'm dubious as to using audible signal strength
as a gauge for a number of the alignments for the KFL1-4
as well as in both the coarse and fine BFO alignments.
I was wondering if there is a convenient, accurate test
point to which I can hang my DVM to obtain "peak"
signal readings. I refer at this point to page 18 of the
Revision A KFL1-4 manual, and page 40 of the Revision
E K1 Owner's Manual.

I'm not all that trusting of my ability to gauge where a signal
is at its loudest; I'd just feel more comfortable if I had a
meter reading to back me up.

Any suggestions? So far, the radio is working well despite
my best efforts to screw it up. :) The receiver seems, at first
blush, to be pretty hot yet with a rather low noise floor; I find
this very refreshing. My K2 kit arrived today; its assembly,
unfortunately, will have to wait.

Thanks and 73 to all in advance,

Bob WA4FOM
