[Elecraft] Winding of coils and toroids

Here's another idea... I clamp a short pencil in the metal jaws of my
vise, then impale the wound toroid on the blunt point (point sticking
partly thru toroid center). There's enough give in the wood/windings to
hold the toroid firmly, and no danger of crushing the 'roid, or scratching
the wire... And it's quick to reposition: a slight pull and the toroid
is off, a press and it's back on. I used this method for preping and
tinning leads on my K2 and K1.
Just another of probably 100's of ideas.

When tinning the toroids I have a cheap little plastic vice to hold the
toroid, you do not want to use a regular metal vice or clamp, that you
could
accidentally over tighten and break or weaken the toroid or wire. Another
way is to clamp your soldering iron in a vice and hold the toroid to tin
it,
unfortunately the wires can get hot.
