Moving the amplifier into an EC2 is simple enough to do. You have to
make one small modification to the KPA100 (adding a 200-300 ohm
resistor), but it doesn't preclude putting the amp back in the K2 if you
want to.
I chose to separate mine, because I wanted to keep the K2 ready for QRP
field operation. It's certainly easier to switch back and forth between
the QRP and QRO configurations with the separates, because you don't
have to open the box; just unplug the RF and serial cables, and you're
ready to go. The operating integration is also unchanged; the amp and K2
in separate boxes work just as smoothly as if they were in the same box.
