For those that have or are getting a KPA100 I have found a perfect
solution for the KIO2 removed from the K2. After a recent incident that
destroyed my KIO2 I had to replace it with a new one. Didn't have the
heart to throw away an almost good piece of electronic "junk" so with
not much work was able to replace the MAX232 chip, several inductors,
transistor, diodes, and short pieces of wire wrap for missing foil was
able to repair AND convert it so that it provides the proper signals for
my ICOM 706MKIIG. Works great is small and fits in a small box that
still has room for the other digital interfaces necessary for PTT, CW
keying, and audio I/O. With a little planning one could easily make an
interface box that allowed the KIO2 removed for the KPA100 to be
"plugged" into the necessary jacks and allow the KIO2 to be later
re-installed back in the K2.
