[Elecraft] K2 SSB option question

It seems the audio is somewhat attenuated when using the SSB module. Switch 
to CW and the signals seem to come up about 6  db (estimate). Is this 
normal or did I fat-finger something. I got a report this AM that the rig 
sounded great from Seattle into Tucson, with 8W into an R7000 vertical. 
However, it seems a bit deaf when I tune around 20M (Oh yes, the bandpass 
is peaked.)
