I use a Palm Pilot for logging too: compact and a 'perfect' memory to check
and see if I've ever worked a familiar call.

I use a generic database program called ThinkDB. It is available for a very
nominal price through the Palm web site. It allows me to create my own
screens for inputting data including "free form" notes about a QSO. It is
quite simple and straightforward to set up. ThinkDB comes with a good manual
and sample databases.

I can search for previous QSOs using any data: call, dates, ops name, QTH,
etc. Adding a new contact is a simple matter of "filling in the blanks" just
like paper and pen logging.

The Palm Pilot will communicate with a PC, where it keeps a security
"backup" copy of all of the files you want, including the ThinkDB database.
On a PC this database can be handled as a spreadsheet.

Since I do not operate contests to any extent, I wasn't concerned with
software that will create logs and reports required for most contests. Since
the database can be stored as a spreadsheet in a PC, I suppose the data
could be exported or modified for contest reporting there.
