In June of 2000 I took my Elecraft K2 #1309 to Dallas Hamcom and setup a
PSK31 demo station in the Texas Packet Radio Society booth. I heard an
unbelievably strong PSK31 signal on 14.070 with a junk dipole strung over
the booth connected to the KAT2 made from scrap wire. I took a break from
the questions at the booth such as, "What is PSK31?", "What kind of rig is
that?" and "How long did it take to build?" and took a look around.
Well I found the other station running PSK31 in the building using a PSK-20
kit and a MP-1antenna. It was Jerry Henshaw, KR5L running the PSK-31
station and showing his Elecraft K2 and mods to the crowd. We had people
going from one station to the other checking out our HF digital
communication and rigs.
The next morning about five Elecraft owners had breakfast before Hamcom at
Owens Family Restaurant, 839 North Watson.
Lets do it again this year on Saturday morning June 8th at Owens 7:00 AM or
7:30 AM.
Wayne and Eric, if you need help in the Elecraft booth I will be glad to
lend a hand.
