[Elecraft] 20 K2's

Hi-

I sure haven't built twenty K2 transceivers, but I have certainly sent out
a ton of toroids here recently. That, coupled with the fact that I have
built my share of Elecraft kits, makes me feel qualified enough to toss in
my two cent's worth of advocacy for vendors in general, and Elecraft in
particular.

The degree of organization I have to maintain in order to keep things
straight surprised me at first and made me really appreciate how tough it
must be kitting up those K-rigs and their assorted add-ons, especially with
the constant interruptions that I know take place at Elecraft Central on
most days. I don't even want to think about what is involved with keeping
those components nicely organized, nonetheless how one goes abt getting
them kitted up and out the door. Mostly I am appreciative that someone is
making the effort to supply me with such enjoyable projects.

No one wants to get a kit with missing parts, but when dealing with the
volume that Elecraft sees it is an inevitability that something will get
swapped for an incorrect value or inadvertently left from a kit. These
things will happen, and they have happened to me with a few of the builds.

To paraphrase something Ron AC7AC wrote earlier, I don't necessarily judge
people or entities based on their mistakes. Rather, my evaluations are
based on how those mistakes are remedied. Anytime I have been missing a
component, or something has been faulty, I have had absolutely no trouble
having a replacement part sent out. From the posts I have read both today
and over the past year and one half that I have been a member of this list,
I believe that my experience is typical. Suffering from impatience, there
are times that I wish it hadn't taken a week or longer to get the part(s)
in question, but that is a different issue.

Anyway, if you like what they're hawking, be kind to your vendor!
