[Elecraft] K1 #1160

Hi Don:

In respect to the RFC8 a K1 Manual Errata dated Feb. 18, 2002 included a manual
correction as follows:

"At the top of page 30, right side, above the title "DC Voltage Checks", write
"Install RFC8 First--see page 31, right column, 7th assemble step." (A jumper
is actually installed in place of RFC8, as explained in the assembly step. This
jumper must be installed before the DC voltages on page 30 can be made.)"

Based on these instructions I decided that a jumper was all that was required
when I constructed the KFL 1-4 for 40, 30, 20 and 17 M bands. It would seem
that I now should install the RFC8 which came with the 80M although I have not
seen specific instructions in all the manuals and errata when it should be
installed. It would seem that the manual needs to deal more precisely with RFC8
although the schematic in Appendix B clearly states that a jumper is only
installed if 80M is not used.

As to C78, this part was not included with the 80M module kit and there is no
reference to it in the supporting manuals and errata. Again it is indicated in
the schematic in Appendix B that it is supplied with the 80M band kit. It would
appear that Elecraft needs to review the instructions in respect to C78 and, in
my case, supply the missing part.

Many thanks for your assistance, Don. In the meantime shall keep plugging
away!
