Hi all,
I'm a newbie to the list, so forgive me if this is old hat to you.
Simon Brown - HB9DRV - has written a couple of great program for amateur
use: the FT-817 Commander and PSK31 Deluxe. The FT-817 Commander itself
won't be of much interest to the majority of K2/K1 users (except those of us
who are '817-enabled) but the stand-alone version of PSK31 Deluxe has a lot
going for it. Beside all the normal features that we have come to expect
from a decent PSK31 program it has up to 9 active QSO channels, a new
feature called SuperBrowser that enable you to monitor up to 40 (yes, forty)
QSOs at the same time and select a QSO to take over, and some innovative
ways to use macros and tags. The SuperBrowser also supports text-to-speech
alarms; very useful if you have the program running in the background.
PSK31 Deluxe has been tested on a range of computers with
Win98se/Win2000/NT4 and WinXP, and we recommend a minimum of a PII/300MHz
processor for full functionality although I do know of some people running
it quite happily on a P200MMX.
PSK31 Deluxe (and FT-817 Commander) are available from my website:
http://www.halpin.tomaatnet.nl
and are of course FREEWARE. The downside to all this is that we are still
working to improve the program, and there are no docs included other than
the bare minimum to get it all running. Anyone with a basic knowledge of
Windows-based software and PSK31 will have no trouble getting it all to
work.
