[Elecraft] K3 Ideas

While there are currently no plans for a major new Elecraft product, we can 
dream, can't we? After all, both the K1 and K2 must have started as dreams. 

So here are some ideas about the mythical "K3", should Wayne and Eric decide 
to go that route someday. 

In my dream, the K3 is heavily based on the K2, with certain new features:

First thing different would be that the K3 would be bigger than the K2. More 
interior and front panel space, more option room, bigger knobs, buttons and 
displays. Definitely a home station rig.

Second would be more xtal filter options. and more shielding in the IF area. 
The xtal filter options would take the form of fixed-bandwidth filters that 
plug into the RF board.  

Third would be a different heat sink arrangement for the finals   ;-)

Fourth is the ability to carry more options internally, like the PA and ATU 
all in the K3 case, plus options not now featured (see below).

Fifth would be an optional general-coverage receiver front end. This 
receive-only option would have its own VFO and would not compromise 
performance of the ham-band rx. Possible design would be up conversion to ~ 
70 Mhz, then down coversion to 4.915. 

Sixth would be DSP option module for the rx tail end.  

Seventh would be a removable/remoteable front panel.

Of course all current recommended K2 mods, and 60 meters, would be included 
in the basic design. 

Just a wish list.
