Scott,

The wonderful thing about the K2 design is that it is modular.  You can
build the K2 as QRP and then get the KPA100 integration kit and make it a
K2/100.  On the power requirements, while I've never lugged my TS-2000
into the field, I can tell you that at idle state, it requires more
current than my K2/100 at idle state.  I would suppose that the overall
efficiencies of the K2 will allow it to last longer than most other 100w
HF rigs on battery power.  I have no documentation to back this up.  I do
know that several K2/100 owners used their K2/100's 100% battery power
during field day 2002.
