Jensen Tools has a Tip Tinner compound. Works sufficiently for tips
that don't need replaced.

Others should also have similar/equivalent. I have gotten by with an
occasional ('bout every day while building the K2) by cleaning and then
redressing with a high temperature silver solder. Have not tried it
but wouldn't the tinning solution available on the web pages for PCB
prototype boards also work? Puts a thin layer of pure tin on just about
any clean oil free surface. Called Liquid tin on

By the way, found that the little tin of plumbing flux works great for
cleaning/redressing and getting rid of the "black crud" that builds up
on the tip.

Subject: [Elecraft] Re-Tin

Hi:

I have a Weller WES50. The tip I have used for some time is clean and
bright, but
not as tinned (sic) as when it was new. Is there any way to re-tin the
tip?
