[Elecraft] 1st Time Kit building

Hi everyone

Can you help me with some advise please.

I really want to build a K2 radio as I want to learn how these rigs work =
and learn about electronics, rather than buy a rig off the shelf.  I =
have never built anything before and I have little knowledge of =
soldering.  Obviously I can practice soldering before I start building.  =
I know I could possibly get someone to build it for me, but I would =
obviously be missing out on a major experience.  Now to the question.  =
Could I start with a K2 or should I build another kit first (any =
suggestions please) or build a K1.=20
Buying a k1 first and then a k2 would be out of my budget for a while =
(kids of 2.5 years and 9 months!).

Your advice would be most appreciated.
