Ron,
When I built my KPA100 and installed it I had two problems which could
be related to your situation.
1. When re-installing the SSB board I missed on one of the connectors.
The result was very weak receive. Pulling it out and redoing the install
fixed that.
2. I could not find my anti-static wrist strap and zapped the MCU
(which Elecraft later replaced). This I verified by putting the old one
it and finding that the rig worked as usual -- but not with the KPA100.
Before doing a reset I would R&R the KSB2 and measure all voltages on
the control board (note that most are done with the F'Panel removed).
And check all the control board mods again.
