I've seen the various postings from Don referring to this item, but have never
seen any specs for this. Is there a website, etc., that could be looked at
for reference?
I built a Micro M+ controller a year ago and use it off either my RS 3A power
supply (surplus since I picked up the Alinco DM-330MV for $139 from HRO) or
off a 5w solar panel to charge everything from my K2 internal battery to any
one of several 7AH gel cells to a couple of 40AH gel cells I purchased (for
$29.95 each).
My Micro M+ is installed in a plastic box, with power in being supplied by a
2.1mm concentric jack (like the K2) on the side, and having banana plug
terminals for power out on the top. I like this little guy because I can see
(by the LED) whether the battery is topped off (the LED is constantly on when
charging, reverts to blinking once the battery reaches a full charge).
The Micro M+ runs a charge up to 14.3v (user adjustable), and then cuts off,
checking voltage every 4 seconds and turning on until the voltage reaches
14.3v again. This is supposed to be the ideal way to charge a gel cell.
I don't leave it connected continuously, but once a month or so I'll hook it
up and top up the batteries.
How does the KD5NDB charger work?
