[Elecraft] Low audio on K1 s/n 1253

Hi All

I have the same problem with a K1 serial 1209, except that I know my AGC
is working ok.  When I tune into a relatively strong signal and turn AGC
off it is quite loud.  But I notice overall that there is just not
enough audio.  I have compared the sensitivity to a TS-940 and the K-1
is just a bit less sensitive so I think I have the tuning right and I
get good power out on all bands as well.  Just need a bit more audio...
Are we the only two guys with this problem??

Hello everyone:
A couple of days ago I finished my K1 project. I must say it is a little
jewel. However, the audio is definitely low (compared to my Ten Tec Kit
for 30 mtrs.) A closer look at the audio amplifiers have shown nothing
at fault; I'm begining to suspect something is wrong in the AGC circuit,
maybe. Placing the AGC in the off or on positions makes a swithching
sound (pop) but no difference in the signal heard, is this OK? I think
not. Any ideas out there as I don't have any equipment to trace the
signal is becoming difficult for me to trouble shoot. Thanks to all for
any help.
