Thanks for all the replies and info on the choice of installing the KPA100
in the K2, or using it as an outboard amp.

As Gary Hembree N7IR pointed out, and most of you know, it isn't that
difficult to swap tops, so, given that the QRO tuner will have to be in
another box, it seems that the answer will be to go ahead and install/use it
as designed, with the addition of the tuner and a half-height box later.
