I think Jeff is referring to the input voltage to the K2 at 14 volts. Thi=
s would put 13.8 volts at the battery because of the .2- .3 volt drop in =
the blocking diode in the K2. So the battery is at the correct float volt=
age. I think he just got a bad battery.

A constant 14 volt float charge on a gel-cell or lead-acid battery is too
much and will damage the battery. The battery evidently went bad due to
overcharging.
