[Elecraft] Split Indicator - add an LED?

Wayne (or anyone),
What would it take to put a small red LED (or some other egonomic color)
on the front panel of the K2 (or K1) to be lighted when in split mode?
Perhaps flashing? I would drill a small hole and mount it just to the
right of the word 'SPLIT' on the K2 front panel. Is there some state
logic level that is accessible? Would additional components be required
to drive the LED? etc...
