I don't believe it was a "stability" issue. There is an issue of a
possible 10 to 20 Hz difference between transmit and receive
frequencies when using a filter other than OP1. This is due to the
resolution of the digital to analog converter controlling the BFO in
the K2. As long as you use OP1 for the receive filter then you are
using the same BFO for receive and transmit and all is well.

After you get your feet wet with PSK there are some other options to
use narrow receive filters that you can look into, such as the fine
RIT function.
