Yep, the word is out on K1's and K2's. No need for me to say more than "rig
hr is K1". I've YET to have another ham ask me what a K1 is, plus they
automatically know I'm running QRP, although I usually cheat with a big beam
at 80 feet. The antenna setup does help get those jaw-dropping "I don't
believe it" signal reports sometimes, though, which is always fun. This
setup has sold at least a couple of K1's that I know of. Most frequent
comment is on the "sound", though, which is most often described as "sweet"
or "really pure". I think folks are still used to the semi-chirpy and drifty
QRP rigs of old. I have learned not to embark on long ragchew transmissions
when conditions are iffy, though. 5 watts is still 5 watts, no matter how
good it sounds.
