[Elecraft] Double-sided tape my butt.

Everyone is bitching about the double-sided tape. If it were =
double-sided tape, it would match the description in the book. However, =
it isn't.
We expect to find something like doublesided tape in the kit, because =
that's whats in the book. There is no way to peel off one piece of =
backing paper, and leave the tape and the other piece of backing paper, =
because there is no such thing.
It should be described as Green Filter adhesive, and then no one would =
be expecting tape, which implies something you can handle, usually =
rectangular. I know I spent about 10 minutes trying to get it to =
separate into three layers, and there are only two there. Luckily I =
didn't cut myself.
Suggested wording in the manual might replace:
Remove the white paper backing from one side of each piece of tape. =
Attach the tape to the long edges of the green filter (Figure 5-13). Be =
careful not to get any adhesive on the cneter portion of the filter, =
since it might be visible after installation.
with:
Remove the white paper backing from one side of each piece of adhesive. =
The adhesive will adhere to the brown backing. Position the adhesive =
(brown backing away from the acetate) on the long edges of the green =
filter (Figure 5-13). Be careful not to get any adhesive on the center =
portion of the filter, since it might be visible after installation.=20
Gently remove the brown backing from the adhesive. The adhesive will =
remain on the acetate. Then turn the filter/adhesive assembly =
adhesive-side down, carefully centered over the inside of the bargarph =
LED hole (Figure 5-14).
Of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Subject: [Elecraft] K2 # 2448 passes first test
Dear All,
I have constructed and tested my K2 (Ser No. 2448) upto first =
calibration=20
with flying colours!
When it came to testing the key/paddle it was a bit tricky, as I haven't =
one=20
yet (why would I if I don't do CW?). But, I cheated a bit and used a =
spare=20
piece of wire to short the connection on the keying jack (with the rig=20
upside down to see if it worked) ;)
Although I did have one problem along the way:
The double sided tape provided to secure the green acetate (to cover the =
LED=20
bargraph) was hopeless. It kept sticking to the tape and nothing else =
and=20
wrinkled up etc... So I pooped down the shop and got some double sided =
'Duck=20
Tape' which has worked a treat.
Now to work on construction and testing part two... Well theres a first =
time=20
for winding toroids!
