[Elecraft] WWWV for calibration.

Well, it sure didn't look like that to me on Spectrogram.=20

I looked up the format on the 'net, and it does match that pretty well =
(WWV, not WWVH), so I'm sure I'm on freq. The 10000.000000000 MHz signal =
is on almost all the time, and they occasionally ADD 1000, 600, 500 or =
440 Hz to it.=20

So, if the Sidetone pitch is set to 600 Hz, and you have the BIG spike =
under the 600 Hz mark, minute 2 past the hour will ALSO show a spike at =
1040 Hz. Minutes 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, =
28,32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 52, 54, 56 and 58 will show an additional =
spike at 1100 Hz. Minutes 1, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, =
31, 33, 35, 37,39, 41, 53, 55 and 57 will also show spikes at 1200 Hz.

There is supposed to be a 1000 Hz (1600 Hz display) tone on the hour, =
but I probably can't see this with the CW filters. As to doing it with =
Upper SB selected, that's way off freq. Either the SSB adapter is =
required, or the alignment must be done differently for phone. I =
wouldn't know, I don't even have a microphone. I had a D-104 abouut 25 =
years ago, but I never got it to work. Too complicated for a lowly =
Amateur Extra, I imagine.

Hi

Here is the way I do the calibration and it seems to work. Select USB =
tune to=20
10.000 MHz. WWV will transmit 500 Hz and 600 Hz tones on alternating =
seconds=20
listen for the higher frequency that's the 600 Hz tone. Zero beat the =
tone=20
with the spot tone set for 600 Hz. If the receive frequency is off =
adjust the=20
4.000 MHz trimmer per the manual. If you have trouble hearing the beat =
you=20
can use Spectrogram. Just set up a 600 Hz marker and tune so the WWV 600 =
Hz=20
signal in on top of the marker. As a double check there is a 1000 Hz =
tone on=20
the minute. That will fall on the 1000 Hz point on the Spectrogram =
display
