  The step you are most likely missing is that the adjustments must be made 
right after you turn the K2 on. So turn on, push Display to get clock, Push 
band plus and minus (together) to get date, set date as per manual, push 
band plus and minus again to get clock, set clock, push band plus and minus 
again to "lock in your settings."  Then bow out of clock mode as you will. 
The idea is: unless you set the date first thing you do after turning the 
K2 on, the K2 will assume you are not setting the clock and will "lock" the 
information so it cannot accidentally be reset.
