Greetings from Alaska,
I have been on this list since October 1998 and have posted exactly six
times. Please bear with me as I now begin to build my own K2 after 3 years
and 3 months. I just bought the K2 and KAF filter for now.
You may chuckle but my personal Elecraft email archive now has 26, 486
Netscape email messages (80KB file) in it. When my resistance readings on
the control board failed last night I used the search function and quickly
found that the autorange function on my HP3478A DMM was not doing me any
favors. I switched to the Fluke 7000A which uses manual selection of
ranges and rechecked all my resistance numbers. That was all it took and
all numbers were right where they should be. My 26,486 messages paid
off...at least this time. Please stand by as I build this K2. I may/will
need help at some point.
Onward to the Front Panel. I figure I have 5 out of 50 hours done now or
10% but there are lots of long trips impinging on my time. It may be March
or April before I get done.
I am excited to be moving towards a K2 in my shack. I believe it will help
me in the long run to work even more stations, especially in contests where
my Kenwood TS450S and Index QRP+ have a bit of trouble.
Take care.
73, Jim
