OK guys and gals....
I just want to thank the people in Aptos that have given me so much fun
with this K2. I just finnished the NAQP January CW contest and I must say
that the K2 did extremely well. I could even hold a frequency and run
stations. The receiver is excellent and keeps surprising me as to how it
performs in a contest environment. The Noise Blanker was great. To bad
the KAF2 is still on the bench. I usually do not use the antenna tuner,
but the external tuner would not match the 160 inverted-L...but the
internal tuner would and I worked a bunch of guys on 160 meters. The KIO2
performed well with NA and loved tuning the rig with my hands on the
keyboard. Made Search and Pounce a whole lot easier. I have got to get
the FT1000MP interfaced as well.
I was surprised how well this rig worked on all bands, but 40 was very
hot. I worked a VE1 in Nova Scotia...then turned around on the next QSO
and worked British Columbia. I went to 80 meters and I could also work
anyone that I heard and hold a run frequency. The receiver was excellent,
but I am repeating myself. I wonder how this will work with the
KPA100? Can't wait.
What a great contest.....what a great rig.
