[Elecraft] K2 great except on 40 meters

I have just completed and done the first alignment on K2 #2628 (I
think).  Second phase caused me concern due to poor receiver response.
I forged ahead and completed phase 3 and was delighted that it transmits
and receives quite well on all bands except 40 meters.  Low sensitivity
on receive on 40 (except when I touch the preamp transistor) and when I
try to tune (transmit) on 40, I get a high current warning.  On display
it shows 2.2x amps, and NO indicate on wattmeter, even in the milliwatt
setting.   I have redone and rechecked the L23  & L24 for # of turns and
connection.  The signal doesn't seem to pass through the Low Pass filter
nor the T-R switch.  A signal injected at W6 does get heard on the
earphones, and is amplified when i touch the Q21.

I sure could use some suggestions.
