Rod-  You should try 8 AA Lithiums, they're a lot lighter. My K1 with 
internal tuner and key (minipalm) weighed in at 2.04 lb.  Greater capacity 
(2.9 ah), and higher voltage, (1.5 per) but they are not rechargeable and 
pricey, $20 for eight at WalMart.  Jus' think of those pts/lb!  :)
