Were it me, and assuming I already HAD my xtal filters (BFO) set to my 
liking, I'd turn the sidetone on at a low level (say 10-20 on the display 
when you set ST L), and then adjust the KAF2 to THAT tone.

Another way would be to run Spectrogram and, first ensure that the xtal 
filters were still centered on the sidetone frequency marker in 
Spectrogram, and then open the xtal filter up to at least 700Hz, wider if 
you have it available, and then turn the KAF2 on and adjust it so that the 
received noise peak is also centered on the Spectrogram sidetone marker.
