Yes, the K1 finals are extremely sensitive.  I added 12 inches to my 20
mtr dipole and
trimmed 10 inches form my 40 mtr dipole resulting in less that 1.1 SWR
on 40 mtrs
and about 1.5 SWR on 20 meters resulting in about 6.5 watt output on
both bands.

To date my furthest QSO has been Pompano Beach Florida (I'm in Los
Angeles).
When I say I'm running an Elecraft K1 I always get a positive response.
On every
occasion so far everyone tells me what a great "sound" my K1 has!

Now if I can only master this straight key I'll have it made.

Thanks Eric and Wayne.  I went from ameteur radio not being on the radar
screen
to building a K1 and getting on the air in about 6 weeks.  I hate to
admit it, but after
three days with my K1 I'm already thinking about a K2.  Your radios are
addictive.
It could be worse!
