Vaclav,

Yes, 100mW SSB with Europe on 20m 55 &57 reports. Propagation was great and antenna (4el quad).
Yes, 100mw would work the same from other radios. But with K2 is more fun than with FT1000D for
example.
Also worked Italian on 40m cw with 5W 579 report antenna 2el home made quad.
73!

Have been "reading the mail" on this reflector for a while and would like to
reply to this one.

I share everyone's excitement when working QRP DX, however, majority of
posts forget to mention the band used and
propagation state.

Please don't get me wrong - I do not want to minimize any of such
accomplishments.

In the interest of fairness, I would like to point out that IMHO propagation
is the most important contributing element in successful contact. Of course
I define contact as a ragchew and not just "59 QSL?"!

So, next time you work some exotic place, tell us if it was on "wide open"
10 meters and you were running 10w into your electric fence, to keep us from
suspense.
( Just kidding! If you going to do this make SURE the fence generator ( is
that a right term?) is OFF, DISCONNECTED!)

And to make this half legal, keeping up with the subject - even if its not
Elecraft, I have been using about 500 feet horizontal loop for about 10
years now and would recommend it to anybody who has the space! It is a
challenging antenna - the higher the band the more radiation lobes - picking
signals from all over the globe. Definitely not a directional antenna in the
sense - " this is the direction I want to go". As mentioned above - it is
the propagation which provides the direction.
Besides - no pesky rotator to deal with.

I am not sure I would recommend it in high lightning area. I live in rainy
Washington and do not have that problem, at least not very often, Hi Hi.
