[Elecraft] K1 as a "big rig"

Would appreciate info/advice/suggestions as to using the K1 as a main station rig.  I operate QRP CW and the new 4-band setup sure looks nice.  Now using old Ten-Tec Argosy, would like to go to digital display plus Argosy getting temperamental in its old age.  With two kids in college, money is a factor.  Would K1 serve my needs as the main rig for general QRP operating with some DX and a little contesting thrown in?   Thanks to all.
