[Elecraft] non-Wire antennas

There are 2 meters of coax run from the back of the rig to a 4:1 balun, =
thence 450 ohm ladder line up through th attic, out the eave and =
straight up to the antenna center insulator. I'm going to leave well =
enough alone.

Dan,

IMHO that is the correct answer!!!
The K2 will work just fine into a 1.7 SWR and should produce its rated
output of 10 watts or more. If loss is a concern - ask yourself how =
much 50
ohm coax do you have on that antenna system. The loss through a few =
feet of
coax will be very low - OTOH if the coax run is 100 feet or more and has =
an
SWR of 1.7 AND is on 15 meters or above, the loss may become =
significant.

The SWR on the ladder line is much higher than what is indicated for the =
50
ohm load - but then ladder line has low losses anyway, even with a high =
SWR
(yes, there are exceptions - like VHF - but we are talking about the HF
bands here.

I have an idea or two. It's working, don't mess with it. What's wrong =
with
1.7:1 anyway on one band of a 9 band, ladder fed doublet? There's 2 =
1.5:1's
and a bunch lower still.
