My K2 does not have a ground stud at all, but then I don't have the
built-in antenna tuner. Does it come with the tuner?

Yes, hooking onto the ground stud in place of BNC shell is OK,  because
the effective lengths to detune the antenna would have to be 0.1
wavelength or more.  Those are spaced much closer than that.
