[Elecraft] K2 frequency error/drift figures

Well said, Bob. This subject would probably never come up if a few
over-enthusiastic Elecraft owners didn't keep publicly claiming far better
stability than any crummy old factory built rig like an FT-1000D or IC-781
or whatever.... :-) Part of the pride of building and ownership thing, I
suppose.
Anyway, you said it right. A couple of great little well-designed rigs, and
certainly king of the hill in their weight class! I use my K1-4 right
alongside my 1000D on the same antennas, and the little K1 is an absolutely
wonderful performer - for it's size and weight. However, to be truthful if
my life (or someone else's) depended on me getting through on the first
call, or being dead on the freq where I'm supposed to be, I'd turn on the
60-pound 1000D without hesitation. OTOH, the 1000D plus generator and fuel
would certainly be no fun to carry up the mountain on a fishing trip! :-)
