[Elecraft] KIO 2 birdie?

I can hear the 14056 birdie as well -- with and without an antenna connected.  It is strongest with the preamp on and I can't hear it with the attenuator selected. I did observe,  as I tuned across the frequency, that the birdie changes audio tone at a faster rate than does a normal recieved signal -- possibly implying some "2*f" component of a mixing frequency...
