Try the 2.x reverse order rate setup. It's on the secondary menu rates =3R. I 
like this mode for quick tuning around the band. Starting in 1000 Hz steps 
spin close to the frequency you are looking for and tap rate to select 50 Hz 
tap again for 10 Hz steps. If you are in the 3N mode and select 1000 Hz then 
tap the rate button you go to the 10 Hz rate. This does not seem natural to 
me.
