Hello Folks,

I keep reading messages about logging programs working with
the K2. I have never tired interfacing a logging program with a
radio. I would appreciate it if someone would tell me exactly what
happens between a radio and a logging program. Does the logging
program read code and log the call sign? Does the logging program
automatically enter the time and frequency from the radio? What else
might it do without input from the operator? Without knowing what
these systems do I have no idea if it would be a worthwhile endeavor
to interface the computer and radio. Any info regarding how these
logging programs interface with a radio would be appreciated.
Actually, info on anything a computer interface will allow would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike,

>Just a promo speech for Gary Surrency and Elecraft. The home stretch on
>building the K2 (ie the last module to go in: KIO2) pooped me out....
>and you name it, I goofed it up. I e-mailed Elecraft and Gary Surrency
>bailed me out beautifully and patiently. If you knew the silly mistakes
>I made, you'd know how greatful I am for Gary's patience!!!!!

>Elecraft rigs are a package deal.....and one of the most valuable people
>in that package is Gary. Like he said....they are here to help when you
>get frustrated. I was getting frustrated! I REALLY appreciate Gary and
>just wanted to let Wayne and Eric and all the folks on the reflector
>know what a great asset to Elecraft I think Gary is.

>NOW - on to the fun results of having a working KIO2!!!!!!!! My K2 now
>works PERFECTLY with my logging software - and that is really a total
>trip. I use Prolog2K which can continually poll the K2 and also stores
>memory settings which I can send to the K2. For those of you who have or
>were thinking about getting Prolog2K - it uses the Kenwood 870S
>setting.
