I recently participated in a Ham radio demo for Boy Scouts using my stock
(no mods) K2 and homebrew Buddipole on 17m. Also participating were two
other hams, one using an Icom 706 with a (2) hamstick dipole on 17m and the
other also using a 706 with a ground mounted multiband vertical. We had all
3 rigs set up on a picnic table. The hamstick dipole and my Buddipole were
approx 20' apart and the verticle was 25' away. Both 706s were at 100 watts.
All 3 rigs carried on simultaneous qsos and my K2 exhibited no distortion or
interference from the other rigs at any time....which leads me to think that
the problem related below is isolated to that one particular K2, not endemic
to all K2s. Just my opinion....your milage may vary.
