I waited a couple days to see if anyone explained why the LCD segments
appeared when soldering.  I noticed the same thing and that started me
thinking that I should have bought a better "expensive" iron than my old
Radio Shack iron before starting on the kit.  My K2 is working fine and no
harm seemed to have occured.
Is it heat from the iron that make the segments appear?
Or stray voltage?

I just finished soldering the LCD on to the Front Panel board. While
soldering the pins I noticed segments of the LCD would appear when the
soldering iron touched the leads? Is is normal, or ok? I'm just wondering
what was going on? My soldering iron is a Weller WTCPN which was grounded.
Hope this didn't hurt anything, but I'm sure wondering what was going on!
